Walker #4 vs Landry Walker #3 “5A State Championship”

By Jeremiah Gray: G-Sportz, 03/20/18, 5:30PM CDT

Walker turned the 5A state championship into a classic one to say the least by coming back from down 8 with a little over a minute left in the 4th to tie the game & force overtime. Some clutch free throws from the freshman Brian Thomas with 20 seconds left to go in the 4th gave the Wildcats another life to still have a chance to give the school it’s first ever state championship. Landry Walker was very uncharacteristic down the stretch turning the ball over on 3 straight possessions. Walker would take advantage of the Charging Bucs’ miscues & get control in overtime to pull away to win 62-57 in dramatic fashion.

Freshman Brian Thomas led all scorers with 20 points & was named most outstanding player for Walker. Sophomore Jalen Cook was big late in the 4th for Walker making some timely buckets & finishing the game with 16 points. Tory Cargo led Landry Walker with 13 points.
